Griffin is one of our favorite third party manufactures of Apple accessories and mobile products. Apple thinks highly enough of their products that they allow Griffin products to be sold on apple.com. After testing the A-frame over a 2 week time period, we found the Griffin A-Frame stand is superior to the Apple made Docks in two important aspects. First, they allow you to place the iPad in landscape mode (i.e. horizontally) which allows for superior and comfortable movie watching. Secondly, the A Frame allows you to connect your iPad to a dock without having to remove the iPad from its protective case.
- Simple, beautiful table and desktop stand for your iPad
- Portrait (i.e. upright) or landscape views.
- Brushed Aluminum frame
- Non-slip rubber cradle accommodates an iPad with a case
- Angled Views to make movie watching fun and enjoyable
The build quality of the Griffin A –Frame is excellent. Its aluminum framing matches the aesthetics of the iPad and other contemporary Apple products while providing a stable and strong base. Your iPad is cradled in soft Silicone to prevent scratches and the A-Frame can accommodate the iPad’s dock and sync cables. In its advertisement Griffin likes to emphasize it can accommodate both their flexible and hard-shell cases; we have found it fits most third-party and Apples’ iPad case.
While bulkier than Apple’s proprietary dock, the A-Frame is more functional. The A-Frame is essentially two pieces of metal, one that holds the iPad and the second serves as a pivoting arm. This latter feature is important as it allows you to adjust the viewing angle of your iPad as needed. Few other stands out there replicated this important function. At $50 the Griffin A-Frame is more expensive than other stands out there but if you use the iPad for more than half-an-hour at a time; whether watching videos, pictures, or reading your favorite magazine/newspaper, the Griffin A-Frame is a must buy.
