How to take Notes on your iPad

The iPad has a built in notepad to take brief notes. Think of them as virtual sticky note or a virtual yellow pad. If you plan to take copious notes, such as for heavy research or multiple college classes, we recommend getting a keyboard with your iPad as well as a more robust notetaking app. However, if you just want to remind yourself to pick up a gallon of milk on the way home for work, or write down some ideas for a party, the iPad note app is perfect.
Notes Basics
1)      On the Home Screen, Tap “Notes”
2)      A virtual yellow pad should appear.
The Notes app has two different views depending on how you hold it. If you hold your iPad in landscape mode, the notepad will appear as a yellow pad you should all be familiar with. However, rotate your iPad to portrait (or widescreen/horizontal) mode.  Your yellow pad should not shrink a bit and you will see a white panel to the left. This white panel that looks like white lined paper lists all the notes you have taken. Above the list of notes you have taken is a search bar. The Notes search bar reads both titles and the content of your notes.
You can also access alist of all your notes in portrait mode. Just tap “Notes” on the upper left hand corner while in portrait mode to access your list of notes as well as the search bar.
Flipping through your notebook: You can quickly flip from one notepage to the next by pressing the left and right arrow buttons on the bottom of the page.

Emailing: If you need to email the page of notes. Just tap the button on the bottom of the page that looks like an envelope.

Deleting Notes: Tap the “trash can” button on the bottom of the page.
New Notes: Tap the “+” button on the upper right hand corner to write a new note
Syncing Notes with iTunes

The iPad Notes app syncs with your notes on Microsoft Outlook as well as Apple’s mail program. To sync your notes follow these steps:
1)      Launch iTunes on your Computer and connect your iPad to your computer.
2)      After the iPad is connected, click the iPad’s icon in iTunes. This is found on the left hand side.
3)      Click the “Info” tab
4)      Click the checkbox next to sync notes if it is unchecked. You might have to scroll down down to find this checkbox.
5)      Click “Sync” or “Apply.”
