Android OS: Requires Android 1.5 and up. See also: Understanding Android Versions & How to Find Out what Versions of Android you run.

Advanced Task Killer for Android allows you to close apps running in the background you do not want, or apps held in cache memory that you are currently not using. While ATK can automatically “kill” apps, it is suggest that you manually kill the apps yourself.
ATK is simple to use. When you open to app it will provide you with a list of current apps in use. Simply check the apps you want closed and press kill. That’s it! Just remember that certain apps such as Skype automatically start when you restart your phone.
ATK is pretty simple. Open this tool and take a look at the running applications list? Uncheck some apps you don’t want to kill (such as Advanced Task Killer and some system apps) Tap the button ‘Kill selected apps’, it will kill all applications checked. If you do not want to close an app, just make sure you did not select it but turning the check mark to grey.
ATK also has an ignore list for apps you don’t want to kill such as most email apps. To add an app to the ignore list, simply press and hold the app on the main menu, then choose ignore.
