Best Android App for Accessing Files on Servers and Computers
Android OS: Requires version 1.5 and up. See also: Understanding Android Versions & How to Find Out what Versions of Android you run.
ES File Explorer is a great file browser, superior to many of the paid apps on the Android Store. This Android App combines an all-in-one file manager with an application manager/ task killer. Advanced users will love its ability to access FTP servers with it’s built in FTP client. With ES File Explorer, as long as you have Bluetooth, 3G, 4G, EDGE or WIFI connection; you can share your files and stay connected with friends and family.
File Management
ES File Explorer creates a user experience much like Windows Explorer and the Apple File Manager when accessing and managing your Android Tablet’s files. The app allows you to view your Android Device’s storage drive as well as any USB flash device connected to your system. ES file Explorer has operations such as Copy, Cut, Paste, Delete, and Rename manage your file as if you were on your computer. It opens most video, picture, and document files within the app. You also have more advanced functions such as multi selecting files and managing file properties. Additionally ES File Manager can compress and decompress zip files, RAR files, and can encrypt ZIP files to AES 256kb standards.
Wireless connection with Bluetooth
What I love about this app is you can forego using the USB cable to transfer files between your computer and Android device. Simply pair your computer and phone, and allow for root access to manager your computer files from your android device. ES File Manager supports OBEX FTP for browsing device and transferring files between Bluetooth devices.
Cloud Computing
ES File Explorer currently works with cloud services such as Dropbox. If your cloud service allows for FTP, you should be able to use ES File Manager to use that service as well.
Manage Apps and Kill Tasks
ES File Explorer allows you to manage your apps and memory. The task killer stops programs running in the background to free up memory and reduce battery drain. The App Manager is a fully functional allowing you to install/uninstall, manage, group, and delete private information.
